#FellowPilgrims Authorised Lay Ministry course: helping ministry with children and young people grow a #WholeChurch

cropped-fp_logo_blue.jpgThis course is for those called to ministry with children and young people.

It is something of a summary of what the ChYP’s Ministry team has been thinking and saying over the past three years: becoming a Whole Church, raising our perception of children and young people in recognising that they are Fellow Pilgrims. Sessions include theory on faith formation and discipleship that doesn’t start and end with teaching children and young people to be Christians; some ideas about building intergenerational communities that make space for individual transformation; practical sessions will include learning to listen, recognising faith in children and young people, how we pass on faith, and what practical changes can be made in our parishes – these will be an experiment in community/network learning… more on that as time goes on!

7pm-9pm,

This course consists of 11 sessions (10 evening and 1 Saturday).  The first and last sessions are attended by training ministers as well as students.

ALM plainThese courses are also open to applicants who wish to complete the course but are not interested in being authorised as an ALM at the end.

These applicants do not attend the additional sessions for students and training ministers*.  Non-ALM applicants are also not required to have PCC sponsorship, training agreements, a DBS check or have completed Deepening Discipleship course. If wishing to minister in their parish post-course then the PCC sponsorship, training agreements, DBS check and Deepening Discipleship course must be completed before ALM authorisation is permitted.

Non-ALM applicants may be people with a curiosity in pastoral ministry or who’re already ministering in contexts outside of diocesan accountability and would like to complete the course for their own interest.
