Earlier this year the Tenterden Schools Christian Worker Trust made two grant applications to the Diocese of Canterbury Mission Opportunities fund, to expand it work and ministry. We are delighted to let you know that both have been successful.
The first grant is with the goal of employing a Christian School’s worker like Nathan Wilson, in the Marsh Academy, New Romney. We have been granted £15,000 per year for three years, this would allow a part time appointment, however we are keen to continue our fund-raising, with the hope of attracting sufficient funds to create a full time appointment. The Trust is therefore seeking to raise a further £15,000 for three years from grant giving bodies, and churches in the New Romney area.
The second grant is to enable the Trust to expand the delivery of Christian assemblies in primary schools within Homewood catchment. Here we have been awarded £5000 for three years, and will enable us to employ extra sessional support to Nathan.
Please hold these exciting developments in your prayers, as we continue fundraising, and seek to find the right people for these posts.
Finally the Trust needs a new secretary. Can you help? Meetings take place about 6 times a year. The secretary’s role involves taking the minutes of meetings, circulating them by email. The current secretary also helps out with preparing and proofreading publicity and other materials and documents. Our previous secretary things the work involved amounts to about twenty four hours a year. If you have an interest in the development of our young people, a good grasp of English, are able to make notes and use a word processor, this could be just the rewarding opportunity you have been looking for!
