The Gathering 2013

the_gathering_logo‘The Gathering’, Canterbury Diocese’s two day festival of faith, happened last weekend and great fun was had by all!

Saturday was a day for the whole family to come together to “Re-imagine…” what it means to be church. While Melvin Bragg and Rev Will Lamb enthralled the audience in the Nave, families gathered for a morning of Music, Magic and Mayhem in the Cathedral Conference centre. After a sunny lunch everybody went to the nave for a whole variety of craft and story telling activities, including the mammoth task of building a Lego mosaic of Canterbury Cathedral and taking the fastest lap challenge on our in-house Scalectrix track! Seminars by Fabrice Muamba, Mary Hawes and  Michelle Guinness to name but a few kept the brain cells thinking about Re-imagining our life of faith together.

We then gathered around a well filled with Lego for a closing act of worship; where the children showed the grown ups (including the bishop!) how to do an action song with style! Everyone was invited to come and take a piece of blue Lego from the central well, symbolising the Living Water from John 4.

You can find out more about the event as a whole here and below are a selection of photos from the day!
