Local democracy at work! If 12,000 signatures are received by July 7th a full council debate will result to look at increasing the Freedom Pass to young people over 16+ The petition is to increase this age to 20, which would help young people attend or stay in further education, and improve their employability by
providing cheap transport (please see Sadie’s email below for further information).
Please encourage all your young people to fill out this E petition to extend the freedom pass to the 16+ age group! For those that want to extend it to the older ages we need to get about 6000 more signatures!
… at the moment young people can buy an annual pass for £100 from KCC to use Kent buses.. but only up until they’re 16. The petition is to increase this age to 20, which would particularly help young people attend or stay in further education, and improve their employability by providing chap transport. Once 12,000 signatures are received, a full council debate will result. No e-petition so far has ever reached this number, but there are currently about 6250 names, which is the largest amount ever received so far.
Please feel free to delete this message if you disagree with the petition , but do pass it on if you feel it relevant to anyone else, especially a young person within the age range.
Kent Freedom Pass Extension
There is a new petition to extend the Freedom Pass to 16-20 year olds. On reaching 12,000 signatures a full council debate will be held (if this figure is not reached there will be a response to the petition posted on the website).
These are needed by July 7th 2011, and currently there are just over 6,250 (20 May).
Please see the attached link: Freedom Pass Petition Link
Please forward this email to whoever you can to increase the liklihood of the petition reaching a full council debate!
